Greater Moncton, comprised of three municipalities, Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe, is the largest catchment area in Eastern Canada, with more than 1.4 million people living within a 2.5-hour drive of the community centre.

It is the centre of the Atlantic Trade Gateway, located halfway between the west coast of the United States and Europe, making it an impressive location for business headquarters and excellent employment opportunities both during your studies and after graduation.

Greater Moncton offers groomed walking and running trails in a series of neighbourhood parks as well as formal sporting programs such as hockey, basketball and baseball at local facilities. For camping adventures, the region is just one hour’s drive from two wild and scenic national parks.

The area has trampoline parks, a tree-top adventure park, a world-class zoo and water-theme park, and lots of private gyms and fitness centres.

  Ask for help to finalize registration with the institution. 

‑  Read the information given by the institution and meet registration deadlines. This is important!

‑  Confirm course selection with your academic advisor.

‑  Transfer funds to the institution and develop a realistic budget.

‑  Visit the institution’s website for pre‑departure information. 

‑  Call the helpline for international students at your learning institution with any questions if you are unsure.

‑  Send travel itinerary to the educational institution.

‑  Make temporary or permanent housing arrangements with the institutions before departure.

‑  Remember that the schools often have residences or student accommodations, be sure to contact them.

FIRST DAYS IN CANADA


  Get your student ID card from the facility you will be attending.

  Open a bank account.

  Apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

  Apply for your provincial healthcare card (Medicare) and supplemental health insurance.

  Participate in welcome/integration activities.

  Sign up for academic integration activities.

  Visit the campus and the rooms where your courses will take place.

  Get acquainted with university rules and characteristics of the program.

  Find childcare services.

  Enrol your child in school.

 

FIRST WEEKS IN CANADA


  Attend classes.

  Pay tuition before the deadline.

  Get familiar with the area’s different transportation services.

  Apply for credit and financial assistance.

  Learn more about student loan and bursary programs at your educational institute.
